Introduction

The MITWPU School of Petroleum Engineering is one of India’s premier petroleum engineering institutions. Our four-year full-time program is divided into twelve trimesters with a choice based 166 credit system. “Furthermore, the course can be broadly divided into 4 subcategories namely Drilling Engineeirng, Exploration, Production and Petroleum geology and Geophysics” With an emphasis on holistic education, we also undertake numerous national and international study tours as well as our rural immersion program to afford our students a well-rounded education.

Introduction

The M.Tech Petroleum engineering course offered at MIT-WPU have been developed keeping in mind the requirements of the petroleum industry. The structure and syllabus contents are categorized as Engineering Core, Departmental Core, Departmental Electives, Humanities, and World Peace Program as well as Self-Study and Online Learning. MIT-WPU Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Student Chapter organizes an “Annual Industry Institute Interaction Program (AIIIP)” which provides an opportunity for students to showcase their talent and skills to the industry through various activities and competitions. This, in turn, serves to increase industry network, enhance understanding and upgrade skills for employment opportunities.

Introduction

Work leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) is designed to help the candidate learn “how to think”. Further, it gives the candidate a thorough understanding of the field of research, through multiple methods. Granting of the degree is dependent upon the candidate’s grasp of the problem being tackled, along with having demonstrated an ability to do independent research. In addition, the candidate must have acquired the ability to successfully contribute to the existing body of knowledge in his or her broader field of study.
